PTO
The concept of the PTO (formerly Family School Partnership) emerged in the 1970’s when the Church reaffirmed the primacy of the parents/guardians in the education of their children. This wisdom provided the platform for the development nationally of a formal Catholic school parent organization, the PTO. The PTO emerged as a group committed to promoting an educational community. The local unit of the Home School Association acts as an agent of communication between family and school.
Parents/guardians who enroll a child in a Catholic elementary school automatically become members of the PTO. Membership is considered both a privilege and a responsibility. The faculty and administration are included in the membership as well.
The PTO works to support the school administration and serves as a vehicle of communication between the school and the parent community. All fundraising efforts conducted by the PTO are voluntary and contribute directly to support school programs.
