As we approach the end of the summer and prepare for the new school year, I wanted to reach out to you to let you know some important information.
Our “Welcome Back” Night is on Wednesday, August 30, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Children and parents can come and see their new classes and meet their new teachers. In addition, information will be available from the Board of Limited Jurisdiction, the Family School Partnership Board, the Parade Committee, and other school groups. The uniform exchange will also be set up and everyone can enjoy an ice cream treat!
As you may already know, Holy Savior Academy will be participating in South Plainfield’s 60th Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 4. We will once again be building a float! The theme this year is “Happy 60th Birthday to the Parade.” If you would like to help with the building of the float, there will be a work session this Saturday, August 19 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the trailer behind the school. We are in need of paper towel or toilet paper cardboard tubes. If you can help us, contact Debbie Metz at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you need more information about the parade or the float, look for our table at the “Welcome Back” night at the school on Wednesday, August 30, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Some of our families from Plainfield have been notified that busing is no longer available through Plainfield Transportation. These families have also been notified that they will receive payment in lieu of that service. I know that so many of families rely on the busing to transport their children. In an effort to assist those families, I will have a meeting room set up in the Science Lab on our “Welcome Back” night for those families to meet to discuss alternate transportation plans such as shared carpooling. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please be in the Science Lab at 6:30 PM.
Our Opening School Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 8 or September 15 at 10:00 AM. Bishop James F. Checchio will be the Main Celebrant. We are all so excited that the Bishop will be celebrating Mass and greeting the children at our opening Mass. When the date is confirmed, I will notify you. What a wonderful way for us to begin the new school year!!
Enjoy the end of your summer!
Mrs. Woodburn, Principal
